Obituary for John P. "Wes" Westervelt II

John Parsons Westervelt, II
but please call me “Wes”

Wes was born on June 7, 1960 to his parents, John and Mickie Westervelt. He grew up in Umatilla where he spent his days hoeing orange groves, catching rattlesnakes, and rescuing box turtles.

He married his high school sweetheart, Michele Westervelt (Mikki) in 1979.

He was a devoted father to Zachary, Isaac, and Jonah.

He graduated from the University of Florida with degrees in architecture and building construction. He received his Master’s degree in construction management from Western Carolina University in 2011.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Parsons Westervelt in 2020.

He is survived by his wife, Mikki; three sons – Zachary E. Westervelt (Shawna), Isaac H. Westervelt (Nikki); and Jonah W. Westervelt (Dana); three granddaughters – Luna Belle Westervelt, Kaiya Ann Westervelt, and Zeya Rye; his mother – Mickie Westervelt; his sister – Ruth Ann Bode (Tim); and his brother, David A. Westervelt (Ursula).

Wes passed away peacefully at home in Altoona, Florida, on April 7, 2021.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 at 11:00 am at the First Presbyterian Church of Umatilla.
