Katherine Alice was born October 2, 1936 in Watonga Oklahoma. Her parents were Catherine Emma and Leonard Lee Haley. She married Eugene John Campbell on March 17, 1965 and yes, we are speaking of 56 years. Katherine's last day with us was February 20, 2021.
Ms. Campbell resided in Eustis, FL, one of thirteen siblings that included Isabel, Leonard Lee, Doris, Reuben, Katherine, Earlene, Kenneth, Patricia, Allen, Wanda, Dennis, Terry and Beverley. There was no question of her loving the Lord. The Bible was studied regularly, and she earned a Doctoral Degree. She was a leader of the youth group, taught Sunday school for all ages, and sang in choir. She traveled with the church to other states along with crossing great waters to the Island Bahamas. Some of the jobs she enjoyed working at were United States Postal Service-CO, Civil Service Peace Air Force Base, NH-Fort Monroe Army Base-VA, Veterans Administration Office, Campbell’s Beauty Supply and Campbell’s After School Care. She loved being elegant, dressing classy, traveling, and shopping around the world. She also enjoyed reading books, gardening, preparing large country home cooked meals, listening to live music, going to drive inn movie theaters, watching tennis, and track & field competitions.
Her smile was a beam of sunshine and a shelter too many that even strangers would take notice. She enjoyed laughing out loud which was always contagious, interjecting a quick joke along with sharing the facts of life. Being disrespectful was never tolerated however, giving love to others was a joy. When it came to a party, picnic and especially a family reunion, Katherine would love to be the first one to arrive and last one to leave. Many of her grandchildren have that same trait too. This woman’s strength, voice and positive attitude will always continue for another “Good Day”.
