Mr. Eugene John Campbell, age 85, of Eustis, FL, passed away February 13, 2021. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mount Dora. He had a famous saying “Do the Best You Can and Let It Roll”. That is what he did throughout life. Some of his jobs included Construction, Bahamian Tour Guide, Salesman, Instructor, Tax Assessor and Real Estate Agent. He enjoyed listening to Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Charlie Pride. Campbell spoke at many business engagements. He was known for dressing sharp. He was never afraid to tell one "do not crowd me give me some room.” When you discussed sports, he was well versed in knowing all the stats when it came to boxing, football, basketball, baseball and golf. Some of the games he loved to play were cricket, ping-pong, shooting pool, badminton, softball and croquet. Eugene was a person that rescued many different animals over the years and who had a close fondness for his dogs Chance, Rocco, and Snoopy. Eugene was an excellent cook and if he made you a Bahamian meal that included pigeon peas with rice, macaroni and cheese, greens, fried cabbage, grouper, salmon, and cod that meant he liked you for the day and if not, well that is a different story. Mr. Campbell was loving, religious, good listener, hard but fair as to giving you an honest opinion unfiltered, who always wanted the best for everyone and even more so his family.
