Donald (Don) Albert Barr
Don was born on February 25, 1931, in Buffalo, New York; the 5th child of the late Albert and Grace (Mayne) Barr. Don passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2020 with family by his side
Don graduated from Seneca Vocational High School in Buffalo, NY. He worked at Bethlehem Steel, until moving to Florida in 1971. He spent over 40 years as an electric motor repairman until his retirement. Don was a member of Good Shepherd Parrish for 50 years. He was a founding member of the Social Activities Committee, an original member of the Men’s Club, and an avid bowler. He could always be found serving barbecue burgers or sauerkraut and knockwurst at the annual Fall Festival.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Jean (Dehlinger), 7 children: Robert (Gail) of Orlando, Thomas Kohlmeier of Orlando, Mary Jo Wilson-Belitz (William) of Fayetteville, GA, Jeannie Mazzillo (Vince) of Senoia, GA, Richard Kohlmeier of Hampton, GA, Laurie Brantley (d. Billy) of Plant CIty, and AnnMarie Chase (Bradley) of Fruitland Park. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Nello (d.Michael).
Don was adored by his 23 grandchildren: (d) Thomas, Janeen, Christina, Michael, Jessica, Erin, Zachary, Emily, Sam, Kelcie, Kimberly, Dwayne, Joya (d), Maria, Drew, Amanda, Matthew, Lindsey, Amber, Tyler, Mark, Mackenzie, and Nicholas. He is also survived by 36 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
“Gramps” loved to spend time with his grandchildren, teaching them silly songs, and talking about History. He was a strong man, and he will be missed. He was “ALWAYS GOOD”!
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 30th @ 11:00am at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Orlando.
