Leon (Buster) Gridley, Jr., 83, of Webster, FL, died April 3, 2020 of complications from COVID-19. He was the son of Leon Orville Gridley, Sr. and Helen Marie (Van Pelt) Gridley.

Buster graduated from Norwich High School in 1954 where he lettered in football and wrestling. His senior year he was captain of the wrestling team. He served in the United States Army 1955-1957. Buster graduated from Delhi Tech majoring in building construction in 1960. He graduated from Oswego State in 1962 majoring in Industrial Arts Education. While attending Oswego State, he lettered in wrestling serving as captain of the team his senior year. He graduated from Oneonta State with a Master’s Degree in 1967.
Buster is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancylee (Hughston) Gridley. He is survived by his children Audrey (Ed) Bice of Webster, FL; Lois (Ron) Walsh of Chipley, FL; Gary (Alya) Gridley of Olympia, WA; Laura (Gary) Beck of Mt. Dora, FL; and Carleen (Martin) O’Sullivan of High Springs, FL. He is also survived by his sisters Sylvia (Ray) Figary of Norwich, NY; Marjorie (David) Davis of Oxford, NY; Linda (Larry) Ebel of Franklin, NY; and a brother Larry (Mary) Gridley of Bakersfield, CA. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Buster loved many things, but first and foremost he loved his family and friends. He liked country music, garage sales; square dancing, summers in North Norwich, NY; gardening; rock hounding; traveling in all fifty states; and animals, especially Lightning and Thunder.
A viewing and funeral will be held in Bushnell, FL. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Norwich, NY will be at a later date.
