On March 14, 2020, Larry E. “Johnny” Maynard, 76, passed away peacefully under the care of Cornerstone Hospice in The Villages, FL following an extended period of poor health. Johnny was born in Borderland, WV where he attended Chattaroy High School.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria McCoy Maynard of Mahar, WV; parents, Paul Howard and Beatrice Maynard of Borderland, WV; sister, Sandra Kay Johnson of Plain City, OH and brother, Paul “Sonny” Howard, Jr. of Borderland, WV. He is survived by his sons, Larry E. (Paula) Maynard, Jr. of Borderland, WV and Paul Richard Maynard of Williamson, WV; daughter, Dawnita Maynard of Williamson, WV; sister, Jennifer Diane Mahar of Leesburg, FL; granddaughter, Devin Maynard; two great-grandchildren; niece, Kay (Cliff) Chinn of Leesburg FL and many other family and friends from VA.
Johnny was an iron welder and also worked for Island Creek Coal Mines. He was a well-known fish guide throughout the US. He was an avid fisherman and hunter, and he loved gardening and sitting on his porch. Johnny served in the US Army at Fort Dix, NJ. He was a Christian of the Baptist denomination.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Beyers Funeral Home and Crematory of Leesburg, FL. There will be a private military service at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Johnny’s family wishes to thank all of their friends for the support and love they have shown at this time.
