Lila Leffler Walling, 89, died in Charlotte, NC, gently, on January 18, 2020. She was a third generation Floridian when born to W.A. and Renie Leffler, at home, in Sanford, FL, on November 16, 1930. She cherished her warm weather heritage. An Episcopalian, she grew up in Holy Cross Church in Sanford and was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Leesburg.

She was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Robert Walling, and also by her four siblings. After graduating from the University of Florida, Lila married Lt. Robert Dale Roth, a naval aviator. They were stationed around the country, and she was widowed while still very young. She and her infant son, Buzz, subsequently moved back to live in Sanford. Robert Walling soon reconnected into their lives and he and Lila married. The two had known of each other as teenagers in Daytona, where both families summered. Robert manufactured wirebound citrus and produce crates in his family’s business, Walling Crate Co., in Leesburg. Two more sons, Bennett and Stuart, were quickly added to her family. Lila was the co-owner of Landseair Travel in Leesburg and Wildwood for many years, and loved to travel. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed competing in tournaments throughout the state. She was a lonely Republican in Lake County's early 60's political scene and enjoyed talking about politics along with studying the stock market. Lila also loved roses, orchids and bromeliads, and had a large collection. She and Robert retired to Homosassa, Fl in the early 1990’s, becoming part of the Riverhaven community there.
Lila is survived by her sons Buzz (Stephanie) of Charlotte, NC, Bennett, of Redington Shores, FL and Stuart, of Homosassa; and also by grandchildren Elizabeth Walling Richter (MIchael) and Charlie Walling of Charlotte, Kathryn Walling of Tavares, and Caroline Walling Metzger (Andy) of Charlotte, and two great grandchildren, Matthew and Tess Richter, of Charlotte, NC.
