Marygene (Young) Mang, 97, died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 6:55 p.m. of congestive heart failure.

Marygene had been a resident of Grand Island for almost thirty (30) years.
Born in Michigantown, IN, Marygene was the youngest of seven children born to Amos and Mabel (Hillis) Young of Sharpsville, IN.
She graduated from Prairie Township High School as valedictorian in 1940. Two years later after studying and training at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Kokomo, IN, Marygene was certified as a Registered Nurse in 1942.
In February 1943, Marygene married Eugene Hershall Mang of Kokomo, IN, a First Lieutenant of the Army Air Corps, and worked in various hospitals near where her husband was stationed.
Marygene served her Lord and Redeemer, Christ Jesus, in the Baptist church for most of her life and was a member of New Life Baptist Church, Leesburg, FL, for many years and at the time of her passing.
Surviving are her four sons, John Eugene Mang, of Michigan; Fredrick Joseph Mang of Florida; Michael Edward Mang of Virginia; and William Robert Mang of Florida; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangement will be held on Monday, October 14, at Beyer’s Funeral Home and Crematory, 279 South Central Avenue, Umatilla, FL, with a viewing at 12:30 p.m. and a memorial service to follow at 1:30. Burial will be a Lakeside Memorial Gardens at 2:45 p.m.
