Gerald “Jerry” McCartney, age 86, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2019.

Jerry was born Jan. 30, 1933 in Harrison, Michigan. He graduated Harrison High School in 1950 and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.
Jerry retired from the Lake County School Board. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #4273 and the AMVETS #2006. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, poker, feeding his birds, and spending time with family. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a friend to everyone.
He is survived by daughter Deborah “Debbie” McCartney; grandchildren Travis, Tiffany, Kayla and John; great-grandchildren Arianna, Taylor, Korrie, Sadie and Tyler; great-great-grandchildren Kinley and Maverick, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years Alma “Jean” McCartney; daughters Linda Weaver, née McCartney and Brenda McCartney.
Officiating the funeral will be Eric McFarlin, and Ronnie McLarrin will be saying the closing prayer.
Funeral will be held November 8th at 1pm at Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors.
