Marguerite Strickland was born November 2nd, 1935 to John Henry and Dora Mae Strickland in Center Hill, FL. The first born of ten children, Marguerite learned from a young age the value of hard work and the family circle. The Strickland family farmed the ground they lived on and lived with the understanding that it was the Lord that sustained them and provided all their needs. It was these values instilled in her at a young age and a love for the word of God that Marguerite carried with her throughout her life and passed to her children and grandchildren.

July 23rd 1954 Marguerite married RJ Rogers out of Lacoochee, FL at Tuscanooga Baptist Church. Tomorrow, they would have been married 65 years. During that time Marguerite and RJ have wholeheartedly served the Lord wherever he sent them. Together they pastored Mascotte, Indian Hill and St Catherine Missionary Baptist Churches. They instilled the truth of Gods work into the lives of their children and grandchildren and shard God’s Grace and love with everyone they came in contact with.
After sustaining her through a long fought battle with Rheumatoid arthritis and sparing her life from a heart attack and several other ailments and sicknesses, the Lord saw fit to call Marguerite to her eternal home on Wednesday, July 17th, 2019 at 12:40pm, as her family gathered around to sing and pray over her. We were able to witness God’s promise come to fruition; as death gave way to victory we knew she then stood in the presence of her Savior, healed made whole and finally home. RJ was so thrilled their two year old great granddaughter Charli was there in the room as well.
Marguerite was preceded in death by her parents, John Henry and Dora Mae Strickland and siblings, Alice Duncan, Jerry Strickland, Marvin Strickland and Doris Story, all of who are enjoying fellowship again in heaven. She left behind her beloved husband, RJ Rogers; three daughters, Joyce (Cliff) Johnson; Kay (Donnis) Mixon; Carol (Perry) Cato; six grandchildren, Josh (Jaqui) Hayes; Jerry Hayes; Isaac (Amy) Johnson; Amy (Matt) Robbins; Cameron Cato; Daniel Cato; and two great grandchildren, Charlotte Rose and Russell Byron Johnson. As well as sisters Melba (Lewis) Lutton; Linda (Johnny) Crawford; and brothers, Pete (Wyona) Strickland; Jack (Janice) Strickland and John H. Strickland along with many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins. Marguerite's legacy of love, dignity, and graceful determination will carry on through her family until the Lord comes to take his church home when we’ll all be reunited and in the presence of our Savior for all eternity.
