Louis Shayne Toler, 55, of Leesburg, FL passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Shayne, a lifelong Leesburg resident, retired from the Leesburg Police Department in 2014, following a 27-year career there. He was a graduate of Lake Christian School, Lake-Sumter Community College and the Southern Police Institute Administrative Officers’ Course (SPIAOC), an honor awarded to only about 1% of all law enforcement officers. Shayne was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, snorkeling and SCUBA diving. He was an Eagle Scout, an Honorary Kentucky Colonel, a member of Morrison United Methodist Church and a longtime member of the Wheaton Break Hunting Club in Baxley, GA. Shayne lived a life of service; and was completely devoted to his family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Toler, of Leesburg, FL, sister, Debbie Ralston (Laurence), of Ocala, FL, brother, Tim Toler (Mary), of Baxley, GA, nephew, Matthew Toler (Kayla) of Morven, GA, niece, Katelyn Toler, of Valdosta, GA, great-nephews, Troy, Hank and Nash Toler, aunt, Mary Lou Coleman, of Leesburg, FL, and cousins, Kathy (Bud) Mote of Jasper, GA and Steven (Jan) Toler of Orlando, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, Gay Toler.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, March 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Garden, Rev. Jim Barker officiating.
